Why are Singing circles so good for the Soul ?

5 Deep Reasons We Are Drawn to Sing Together.

There is something so ancient and familiar about sitting in circle and singing together. Since the beginning of time We have gathered around fires, in temples and our homes using our voices to heal, pray, grieve and celebrate.

Singing circles aren’t just a beautiful experience — they touch something deep inside us.In this society, our voices have been shut down, many of us didn’t feel safe to fully express ourselves, and often as children our beautiful, messy and playful sounds would often be deemed noisy and irritating. Here is 5 reasons why singing together really does heal the soul…

1. Singing brings us back into the bodyIn a world that is full of distraction and overwhelm, singing gently brings us back to the present moment and back to ourselves. The vibration of the voice moves through the chest, throat and tummy, regulating the nervous system and grounding us into the now moment. As we let the music move through our bones, tension begins to soften, the busy mind grows quiet, we remember what our ancestors before us would have done, this is a remembrance of who we really are.

2.The voice releases what words cannotMany emotions live beyond language. Grief, joy, anger, sadness and devotion — they often sit silently in the body, waiting for expression. Singing gives these feelings a safe way to move and release. In my singing circles, there has never been a prerequisite to be able to sing, just honestly singing from the heart. The voice becomes the medicine, carrying and releasing the energy that has been trapped inside. Tears and laughter, are all welcome.

3. Singing together creates true connectionWhen voices merge together in harmony, something magickal happens — separation dissolves. We are no longer isolated individuals but part of a shared field of resonance and sound .Its a beautiful connection, It’s felt in the heart, body and soul. We can create such a wonderful feeling of belonging, safety and unity, which let’s face it, we are all desperately craving in this crazy, disconnected world. Your soul knows this vibration.

4. Sacred songs awaken ancient memory.Mantras, medicine songs and ceremonial chants carry wisdom that transcends time. We dont even have to fully understand the words, it’s the vibration and intention behind it all. These songs remind us of something — our innate wholeness and our deep wisdom, our connection to nature, to spirit and each other. Singing them can feel like remembering who we are beneath the layers of the conditioning and trauma that we all still carry.

5. Singing circles invite us to be fully ourselvesThere is no need to sing “well” in our signing circle. No experience needed, just be yourself and bring an open heart and a big smile .A permission slip to be authenticly you, take of your mask, its exhausting wearing it all the time. The soul thrives in spaces where there is no judgement, only acceptance. Over time, singing circles, gently build confidence, trust and such a safe place to rest, reset and be held.

Singing circles are not about ego, They remind us that healing can be communal, joyful and deeply human. The intentions of our circles, are to always be inclusive, to be fun, to channel back our love, our prayers and sweet intentions back into mother earth and all that inhabit her.

No hierarchy, no judgement, no expectation…

Sometimes, the medicine we need isn’t another solution — it’s just to sing, to smile and of course drink a lovely bit of cacao.
